On the occasion of the International Designfestival DMY from June 1-5, 2011 the Berlin architect Le Van Bo (Hartz IV furniture) will present the Hartz IV City apartment in Berlin's Open Design City. Based on a one-room standard apartment (WBS 70) Le Van Bo DIY furniture is designed to translate a minimum floor area into a maximum quality of life: food, work, sleep and cuddle. And all in only 21 square meters of living space, the Hartz IV furniture makes it possible. Above all, the Siwo Sofa (short for single-dwelling) is a bed, sofa and bench seat all-in-one. Anyone who wants to set up their room after the model of the Hartz IV home can rebuild it themself - the plans are 100% free.
The Open Design City in betahaus is Berlin's creative lab. Ideas are developed, individual designs are implemented, prototypes are built and furniture is manufactured. The workshop contains everything from scissors to screwdrivers, cordless tools and soldering irons, sewing machines and thermal cutters, computer-controlled production machines, laser cutters, and even a 3-D printer - plus the opportunity to meet great people excited to share their knowledge and broaden skill sets.

Neues Hartz IV Möbel erstmal im Einsatz: Der Beta Block
New Hartz IV furniture in action: The Beta Block

So entsteht kein Müll.

Trade shows tend to create waste - but not this one. The special feature of this exhibition is the use of walls that are reused after the exhibition as a residential or office furniture. This creates no waste. Le Van Bo has designed the Beta-Block especially for this exhibition.Beta-Blocks are roll-cabinet-like boxes that can be stacked, lined up, or set up for guerrilla lounging. Beta-Blocks make their debut at Open Design City.
Abmessungen: B=90 H=160 T=62
Material: Kieferleimholz 18 mm, 30 Schrauben, 4 Rollen
Anschaffungspreis: 205 Euro/Beta-Block (ohne Farbe)

The Beta-block can be as a wardrobe, filing cabinet, wet bar, kitchen or even used as a sleeping area. Thanks to wheels the Beta-Block is mobile, and because of its compact size it fits through any door in any lift, and even in the subway - the ideal piece of furniture for urban nomads and creative people who simply do not want to settle for less. The back of the Beta-Block is open and can be used in different ways. Why shouldn't it also be a show case for our sponsors: advertising as a block, so to speak?
Dimensions: H = 160 B = 90 T = 62
Material: 18 mm wood, 30 screws, 4 wheels
Purchase price: 205 € / Beta-Block (no color)
